By Choice

Have you ever wondered why? Back benchers are celebrated. Dedicated ones despised. Sincerity mocked at. Frivolousness venerated. Truth looked down on with disdain. Specious nobility honored and revered.

Gone are the days when morals meant everything, when positives prospered, when heroes were sought after and villains were tagged with a term of opprobrium. Beginning with the admiration for Professor Moriarty, and other villainous leads in the Hollywood, to several other daily life instances, discernible or otherwise - we hail the Bad. The rule-breaking clad is elevated to stardom, fallaciously associating with them courage and  audacity. Bad is coalesced with 'being cool', for reasons best known to the youth community. Rules, whether at college or at home or elsewhere - remain to be an object of scorn.

Digging a little deeper, when we try to find out the 'Why' behind the issue, we are stalled without an answer. Or, even worse, we arrive at: "Good is boring." Probably because we were and still are bulldozed with things that emphasize on morals and virtues, right from kindergarten fairy tales, it could be that, at some point in time, things begin to get monotonous and adventure-seekers that most of us are, choose to take a different fork on the road; one that is forbidden - one that is challenging - one that is falsely fame-worthy. What's more - the ones that differ to agree are pinned down as listless oafs that lack zeal and enthusiasm to explore beyond boundaries.
What is good and what is otherwise in most of the cases is relative and is debatable. Even business relationships demand certain 'vulpine' intelligence than just sheer brilliance to outsmart competitors and be successful. This infatuation to Bad, though undeniably existent, cannot be explained or justified. Despite the everlasting support that the Good gains over the Bad, 'Too Good' is termed 'quixotic' rather than ideal; and  it is important to understand, there's a thin yet significant line between ideal and quixotic: pursuing the ideal is okay, emphasizing on quixotism is obtuse.

Every passing second, each one of us are waging Inner Wars; we are constantly fighting ourselves - fighting the Evil within us.

The Victor emerges by Choice; rational or otherwise.
